DESCRIPTION

Contemporary institutional building housing the headquarters of the Town Hall of Casas de Don Pedro, located in Plaza de España, the municipality’s main urban space and the organising axis of the town’s administrative, social and cultural life.

HISTORY

The New Town Hall formspartof a recentprocessofmodernisationof municipal infrastructureaimed at adapting administrative spaces to current public management needs. Its construction reflectst he evolution of the municipality, which, without losing its traditional identity, incorporates new buildings intended to improve services forcitizens.
This building is located in Plaza de España, a spacet hat has historically served as the municipality’s administrative centre, in contrast to the nearby Plaza del Sagrado Corazón, linked to the religious sphere. This duality, already documented in the urban organisation of Casas de Don Pedro, reinforces the role of the Town Hall as a structuring element of public life.
The introduction of the new building does not represent a break with the past, but rather a functional continuity in which the square continues toact as a meeting point and setting for institutional activity, maintaining  its centrality within the urban fabric.

HISTORICAL AND ARTISTIC DESCRIPTION

The building features a contemporary architecturec haracterized by functional clarity and adaptation to current administrative requirements. Its design, although modern in materials and style, integrates into the ensemble of the Plaza de España,  popular architecture and other institutional elements.
The square in which itis located is definedby a layout adapted to the topography, surrounded by traditional houses featuring wrought-iron grilles, white washed façades and, in some cases, elementst ypical of manor houses.

The building under went renovation in 2023 and is distributed over a ground floor, first floor and second floor. In this context, the Town Hall acts as the central piece of the ensemble, reinforcing the interpretation of the space as an administrative nucleus.
Unlike traditional buildings constructed in masonry and brick, the new property introduces contemporary construction solutions, generating a contrast that demonstrates the architectural evolution of the municipality. Never the less, it simplementation respects the alignment and scale of the surroundings, maintaining the coherence of the urban space.
